Districting
At the April 5, 2022 City Council Meeting, the City Council voted to not proceed with transitioning to by-district City Council elections.
Help Us Draw Brea’s Future
Like many cities in our region, Brea is faced with developing voting districts for use during future City Council elections. Brea currently uses an at-large election system, in which all voters in the City have the opportunity to vote for candidates for all five seats on the City Council. City Council candidates may reside anywhere in the City and they each provide city-wide representation. A by-district election system is one in which the City is physically divided into voting districts, each with one Council Member who resides in the district and is chosen by the electors residing in that corresponding district.
Per the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA), Brea is seeking community input to determine how to best map by-district election boundaries.
Now’s Your Chance to Have Your Voice Heard!
- What would you consider your district within Brea?
- Is there a park, school, major road or intersection nearby?
- Does your neighborhood have common concerns or is within a particular development?
