Recycle Your Motor Oil
Motor oil poured onto the ground or into storm drains or even tossed into trash cans in sealed containers can contaminate the soil, groundwater supplies, streams, and the ocean. Recycling is the only responsible way to go.
Collection Centers
Take used motor oil to a certified collection center and you are protecting the environment, preserving a valuable resource, and possibly even getting paid to drop it off. The Integrated Waste Management Board encourages you to identify disposal sites in your area before you start the next automotive or mechanical project that involves handling oil. Most Certified Used Oil Collection Centers will take up to five gallons at a time. Locate a collection center near you.
Certified centers will not accept used motor oil that has been contaminated with other fluids such as antifreeze, solvents, gasoline, or water. So, please, don't mix it with anything else or you will need to take it to a Hazardous Waste Collection Center instead.
