Crimes Persons

The Crimes Persons Unit, which is comprised of four Detectives and one Sergeant, is responsible for investigating homicide, assault, robbery, elder abuse, domestic violence, stalking, rape, sexual assault, child abuse (physical and sexual), criminal threats, arson, and missing persons cases.  Supported by a Crime Analyst and a Crime Scene Investigator, shared with the rest of the Detective Bureau, the investigators assigned to this case load work diligently to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators of these crimes while ensuring the victims receive the support and assistance they deserve through our partnerships with Adult and Child Protective Services, and the Victim/Witness Program in Orange County.

In addition to investigating cases brought directly to us by our residents, business owners, and visitors to our city, the Crimes Persons Detectives also investigate suspected incidents of child exploitation brought to our attention by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) via our partnership with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).  The ICAC assigns investigations involving suspects or victims possibly living in the Brea area, based on tips received from the NCMEC, to our Detectives for follow up and prosecution if it is determined the crime occurred in our jurisdiction.  The ICAC supports those investigations with resources, training, and funding that can also be used to support our larger mission.
