Recycling & Waste
Help save the environment and offset the cost of your monthly refuse rate by recycling.
Routine trash pick-ups for Brea include removal of waste and an active program to capture recycle and compost materials. Service is delayed by one day for pick-ups falling on major holidays and the remainder of those weeks: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Commercial operations, apartment complexes and larger waste generators are expected to participate in recycling.

Compost Giveaway Event
On Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., the City of Brea and Republic Services will be giving away FREE compost to residents. The event will be held at Tri City Park, 2301 N. Kraemer Blvd., Placentia. Please bring your own containers or buckets, which Republic Services staff will fill with compost. To receive free compost, residents must provide proof of residency (CA driver’s license or utility bill). There is a limit of 60 gallons of compost per household. This event may be subject to changes or postponement due to pandemic restrictions.
Composting is good for the environment and good for your pocketbook, too. Compost enriches the soil, helps retain water, and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers; among other benefits.
